The $7.1 million multi-use complex includes a covered 600-seat grandstand and could provide a “halfway point”, where Cairns and Townsville teams could do battle, while sharing the burden of travel.

“We would be happy to host clubs here or have them use the ground, if something can go ahead,” he said.

CDRL clubs will discuss a return to the field at a meeting on Monday, despite making the decision to cancel the season last month, with the recent lifting of spectator limits opening the door for a comeback.

At least four CDRL clubs have confirmed their interest in playing in a shortened competition, as well as Intrust Super Cup side the Northern Pride.
