Keen to consolidate their spot in the top three, Leprechauns left nothing to chance as they banked three important competition points with a 64-30 win over Saints on Wednesday night.
It was clear from the outset that both teams were eager to turn around their recent form after last-start losses, but only the Leps were able to execute early on, as Saints gave away some easy possessions with throwaway passes and deflections.
A strong first quarter paved the way to a 34-goal victory for the Leprechauns, who outscored their opposition 24-6 in the opening stanza.
Saints were left wondering what may have been after grinding their way back into the contest in the second and third spells, even managing to win the second quarter 15-13, but fell short in critical moments in the final quarter, where they netted just two goals to the Leps’ 18.
Starting the match at centre, Emma Lardner was dominant at both ends of the court for the Leps, applying strong defensive pressure and feeding well into the shooting circle.
Leps shooting combination of Chantelle Tikitau and her younger sister Sera-Lee continued their impressive accuracy in the big win.
