Rumours swirl about Eddie Betts’s future but the Crows will not delist the fan favourite
Rumours have been swirling about the future of Crows’ fan favourite Eddie Betts as Adelaide conducts its end-of-season player interviews. But he has not been — and won’t be — delisted.
Adelaide fan favourite Eddie Betts will not be delisted at the end of the season.
Speaking on FIVEaa on Wednesday evening, ex-Crow Stephen Rowe said the Crows had told the star goalsneak he would not be on the list next year despite being contracted for 2020.
But The Advertiser understands the 32-year-old has not been delisted and will not be, and a trade to a rival club will not take place unless he and Adelaide agree.
Betts has been with the Crows for the past six seasons, kicking 310 goals from 132 games, making three All-Australian teams and twice winning the league’s Goal of the Year.
This season, he booted 37 majors — second at 11th-placed Adelaide behind Taylor Walker (43) — but was dropped ahead of the round 19 match against his former side, Carlton.

His dumping to the SANFL sparked rumours the Crows would seek to cut ties at the end of the season and the Blues and Gold Coast were linked with a move for Betts.
Betts told FIVEaa a fortnight ago he was definitely staying at Adelaide.
“Course I’m going to be here,’’ Betts said.
“There has been a lot of rumours the last couple of weeks about me leaving.
“I have spoken to Don Pyke and Brett Burton and they said I’m a required player here at the Adelaide footy club next year.”
In the same radio interview, Betts also said he had little interest in leaving SA.
“I don’t think I’ll be talking to other clubs,’’ he said.
“I’ve got a young family, it’s a big decision if you want to pack up and leave.
“It’s a massive decision to move your whole family.
“It drains you.
“This is the stuff you have to deal with.”
Sam Jacobs, Hugh Greenwood and Alex Keath are other key Crows who have been linked with trades to rival clubs.
