Rory Sloane looks set to shrug off an eye injury and take on Collingwood

Star Crows midfielder and co-captain Rory Sloane looks set to play in the do-or-die clash against Collingwood. And he could be joined in the side by key defender Alex Keath.

Sloane eyes Pies return

Star Crows midfielder and co-captain Rory Sloane is set to play against Collingwood, as Adelaide’s season gets to a do-or-die point.

Sloane’s afternoon in Perth in the Crows’ gutsy loss to West Coast was cut short when he suffered an eye injury from a collision with teammate Matt Crouch in the third quarter.

Sloane has had a history of eye injuries but Crows general manager of high performance Matt Hass said a specialist on Monday cleared the gun midfielder of significant damage and Sloane was now set to play on Saturday.

“His only restriction is that he’ll be non-contact (at training) this week but we’re confident he’ll be available for Collingwood,” he said.

Key defender Alex Keath could also play against the Pies, after missing the last three with ankle soreness.

Hass said Keath had missed more weeks than expected but he would undergo a test on Thursday.

“We’re seeing some positive signs and we’re hopeful he’ll get back out there this week from a training perspective,” he said.

“We’ll assess how he pulls up, but we’re hopeful he’ll play this weekend.”

Paul Seedsman is expected to be available despite sustaining a small undisplaced fracture in the tip of his ring finger during the SANFL Crows win over West Adelaide on Sunday.

Cam Ellis-Yolmen could return to play in the next two weeks after he started running after a low-level stress reaction to his right fibula.
