Jackson Mead (MID $117,300)
Skilful midfielder averaged 21 disposals and 106 points for SA at the under-18 carnival and is clever forward-of-centre. Looming as a Round 1 starter after impressive summer. Must be included.
Miles Bergman (FWD $148,800)
Exciting 18-year-old is a chance for a Round 1 start and, like last year’s rookie trio, could be given plenty of opportunity and come right into SuperCoach calculations.
Dan Houston (DEF, MID $484,800)
Posted scores of 85, 134, 88, 105 and 117, playing through the midfield, in big finish to 2019. Looks capable of even better this year as the role becomes a permanent one. A definite threat.
Travis Boak (MID $582,300)
Coming off a career-best campaign following return to the midfield. Posted 15 SuperCoach tons – seven in excess of 120 – in 2019 and must be respect, despite loss of dual-position status.
Scott Lycett (RUCK $550,600)
Enjoyed a terrific run in the final stretch last year, averaging 121 points from Round 11 onwards, after making the No. 1 spot his own. Can’t be taken lightly, despite ruck-only status.
Darcy Byrne-Jones (DEF $473,400)
A big surprise last year, averaging 96 points per game – and that includes the nine-point shocker against North Melbourne – from Round 9 onwards. An outside chance here.
Ryan Burton (DEF $401,800)
Limited preparation for the classy 22-year-old after multiple fitness concerns. But can figure, as six scores of 87 or more last year and 2017 average of 84 suggests. Keep in mind.
Hamish Hartlett (DEF $434,900)
Averaged 91 or more in five of the first seven seasons of his career and can still feature prominently, posting six scores of 85 or more after returning from ACL injury last year. A likely improver.
Brad Ebert (FWD $415,200)
The 29-year-old is fit and looks ready to resume after difficult 2019. Can feature prominently, even in forward role, as 100-point average before Round 6 injury last year suggests. Do not dismiss.
Robbie Gray (FWD, MID $453,000)
The 31-year-old star can lead from start to finish on his day but predominantly-forward role has him more of a SuperCoach Draft chance in 2020.
Connor Rozee (FWD $422,100)
Coming off a super-impressive first-up campaign, which featured a team-leading 29 goals and five SuperCoach tons. Will improve again and is worth some thought, despite the price.
Charlie Dixon (FWD $350,600)
Enjoying a terrific preparation this time around and is a likely improver in 2020. Posted nine SuperCoach tons in 2017 and is far better than last year’s 65-point average. There’s some value here.
Ollie Wines (MID $479,700)
Struggled last campaign, finishing with an 88-point average – the lowest since his debut season. Can feature but others have stronger claims.
Justin Westhoff (FWD, MID $435,500)
A variety of roles in 2019 saw the 268-game stayer average 20 points less than he did the previous season. But can still feature prominently, as 134-point performance playing on a wing in Round 23 suggests. A big SuperCoach Draft chance.
Peter Ladhams (RUCK, FWD $326,700)
Much better than last start – seven disposals and 13 points - suggests and looks a likely improver in 2020. But it’s hard to make a case in SuperCoach as the No. 2 ruckman.
Tom Jonas (DEF $417,500)
The skipper leads from the front and often helps better the run of others. Must be respected after 87-point average in 2018 and three more SuperCoach tons last year. Consider in Draft.
Xavier Duursma (MID $401,600)
Another coming off an outstanding first-up campaign but others look to have stronger claims at the price. Track form for next year.
Tom Rockliff (MID $495,400)
Can still lead from start to finish on his day, as seven SuperCoach tons – two in excess of 130 – last year proves. But the 29-year-old will be coming off a limited preparation and fitness appears an ongoing concern. Hard to trust.
Riley Bonner (DEF $375,500)
Damaging left-footer looks capable of better than 69-point average suggests but he’s still hard to recommend at the price.
Zak Butters (FWD $328,700)
Enjoying a terrific preparation and looks a likely improver in his second season but not enough to have strong SuperCoach claims.
Karl Amon (MID $418,500)
Plays a role – and plays it well – but it’s very hard to make a case in SuperCoach, despite eight scores of 87 or more last year.
Tom Clurey (DEF $401,800)
Others have far stronger claims in SuperCoach.
MAKING THEIR CASE
There could be even more SuperCoach gold to come with versatile draftee Mitch Georgiades (FWD $130,800) impressing over summer and strong-bodied fourth-year midfielders Willem Drew (MID $392,600) and Joe Atley (MID $215,000) ready to force their way in.
The returning Jack Watts (DEF $307,900) is a likely inclusion once he’s ready, while Sam Powell-Pepper (FWD, MID $403,300), Joel Garner (DEF $219,400) and Todd Marshall (FWD $286,200) will all be in the Round 1 mix.
