No room for Eagles ball-magnet in Kevin Sheehan’s top 40 draft prospects for 2019

“I am very bullish about the future potential of my Top 40”. AFL Talent Ambassador Kevin Sheehan names his top prospects ahead of the draft but there’s no room for one South Australian star

AFL Talent Ambassador Kevin Sheehan has named six South Australians in his top 40 draft prospects ahead of this month’s national draft.

Classy Norwood running machine Dylan Stephens, who is set to be the first player picked from the SANFL, leads SA’s contingent, which also includes Glenelg’s Will Gould, West Adelaide’s Will Day, Norwood Cam Taheny, Eagles excitement machine Kysaiah Pickett and Port Adelaide father-son prospect Jackson Mead.

“I am very bullish about the future potential of my Top 40 with a good spread of sizes and playing positions included,” Sheehan said.

Pickett, the 171cm small forward and nephew of Port Adelaide premiership player Byron, looms as South Australia’s bolter after being invited, along with Stephens, to the first night of the draft in Melbourne.

“My list also includes five smalls reinforcing if you are good enough, you are big enough,” Sheehan noted.

Melbourne and the Bulldogs are the clubs understood to be considering Pickett with picks inside the top 15.

Sheehan, however, had no room for Eagles ball-magnet Harry Schoenberg, who averaged 27 disposals and 122 Champion Data ranking points per game to win SA’s MVP award at the national carnival.

But Champion Data rate the 18-year-old, who possesses brilliant hands and vision in tight spaces as the 17th-best prospect in the pool, and he’s still a chance to be taken in the second-round after a prolific – and consistent – season at all levels in 2019.
