These players are on the outer at their respective clubs, could Adelaide snare a bargain?

Could the Crows get another Power youngster to follow Billy Frampton to West Lakes? These are the fringe players who should be on Adelaide’s radar.

Adelaide will still press on with its Plan A of targeting the draft as the Crows rebuild continues.

Jackson Hately will arrive in a trade from GWS, but outside of that there is little expected in terms of incomings at West Lakes during this trade period.

But there are players at each of Adelaide’s 17 AFL rivals either on the outer of struggling to break into the side that the Crows could have a look at to add to their rebuilding list.

BRISBANE – MITCH HINGE

The 22-year-old 190cm half-back could be on the way back to South Australia. The brother of former Crows player John, Hinge has played just three games for the Lions since being rookie listed but is a strong runner and competitive around the ball. Is out of contract but yet to be officially cut by the Lions.

CARLTON – PADDY DOW/JACK SILVAGNI

Both played just three games for the Blues in 2020. Dow, a No.3 pick in the draft, has been mentioned as a makeweight for Adam Saad to make the move from Essendon while Silvagni struggled with injuries. At 21 and 22 respectively they are both in the age bracket the Crows are looking at. Dow could be the hybrid midfielder/forward the Crows are looking for while Silvagni could add to their attacking stocks.

COLLINGWOOD – TOM PHILLIPS

Looks to have fallen out of favour at the Pies despite his talent. Lachlan Sholl’s performances to end the season on the wing means he should take one of the spots but what about the other? Phillips would improve the Crows outside run from day one.

ESSENDON – AARON FRANCIS

Was considered the best utility in his draft group but hasn’t realised his potential so far at the Bombers despite a promising 2019. Has requested a trade back to SA without any luck in the past but with his price down would he be worth a crack in 2020?

FREMANTLE – CONNOR BLAKELY, LUKE VALENTE

Blakely is now seen as gettable by rival clubs after a couple of years of being a key player for the Dockers in both midfield and defence.

GEELONG – NAKIA COCKATOO, CHARLIE CONSTABLE

The Crows have asked about Cockatoo, but the talented forward looks set to go to Brisbane in the hope the Lions can get his body right. Constable could be on the move in search of more opportunities and while Hately will arrive as a big-bodied midfielder the 191cm Constable would still be a good option for the Crows.

GOLD COAST – WILL BRODIE

Gold Coast need to seriously trim down its list and Brodie for all his talent as a junior hasn’t done enough at the Suns. Contracted but could be open for a new start to reignite his career.

GWS – BOBBY HILL

Contracted until 2022 but only played five games for the Giants this year. Has the x-factor many clubs, including the Crows, would love to have.

HAWTHORN – MITCH LEWIS

Had an up and down 2020 after a breakout 2019. At 22 there is still plenty of upside as he develops as a key forward, which the Crows are on the lookout for. But it would be hard to get the Hawks to part with the promising tall.

MELBOURNE – TOM SPARROW

Has signed a new deal at the Demons but would be a good player for the Crows to pursue, if they haven’t already. A promising midfielder who would fit in well at Adelaide.

NORTH MELBOURNE – BEN BROWN

Likely to go to Melbourne but Brown would add something to the Crows’ forward line. Also looks to be available for cheap given he is still 27 and has kicked 287 goals in 130 games for the Roos.

PORT ADELAIDE – KANE FARRELL

Could the Crows get any other Power players to follow Billy Frampton to West Lakes? It seems unlikely given how well Port Adelaide are tracking. Peter Ladhams was a player the Crows liked but the Power want to keep him. Could Kane Farrell potentially be lured with the promise of regular footy?

RICHMOND – CALLUM COLEMAN-JONES

Still has to serve out his suspension for the early morning incident outside a Gold Coast kebab shop but a young ruck/forward to provide back-up to Reilly O’Brien is what the Crows need. Richmond may want to keep him though now that Ivan Soldo went down with a knee injury.

ST KILDA – LUKE DUNSTAN

Has been linked with a return to SA as a possible part of a deal to send Brad Crouch to St Kilda. Would add some physicality to the Crows midfield.

SYDNEY – WILL GOULD

Surprisingly didn’t play for Sydney despite the Swans giving youngsters plenty of opportunity and the former Glenelg defender having an AFL-ready body. Could this be enough for the Crows to lure him back to SA.

WEST COAST – JARROD CAMERON

His brother Charlie couldn’t get out of the Crows quick enough. However the younger Cameron has enough talent for Adelaide to at least make a play at the 20-year-old small forward.

WESTERN BULLDOGS – JORDON SWEET

Out of contract at the Bulldogs Sweet could add to the Crows ruck stocks despite Kieran Strachan being re-signed.
