Travis Boak is heading towards re-signing with Port Adelaide.

The former captain has been weighing up his future, but he is expected to play an 18th season in 2024.

Port and the 35-year-old are talking with a view to him continuing while sorting out finer details on a 12-month extension.

No contract had yet been signed and announcement would not happen until next week.

Boak endured a modest season, featuring in 21 games, including four as the substitute, and playing mostly on the wing.

After his exit interview, Port’s AFL games record holder told reporters he still had fire in the belly and plenty left in the body.

The Power put the ball back in his court this month, saying it would re-sign him if he wanted to play on.

Boak has lined up in 348 matches for the Power since being selected with pick 5 in the 2006 national draft.

He captained the club from 2013-18, had won two best-and-fairests and been a three-time All-Australian.

Boak was the substitute in the qualifying final against Brisbane before getting recalled into the 22 and being one of Port’s best in its home semi loss to GWS.
