The Crows and Power will meet in a pre-season under-23 ‘Showdown’ in February

Adelaide and Port Adelaide will meet in a pre-season under-23 “Showdown” in February during the bye week in the AFL’s Marsh Community Series.

The Power and Crows will again play an under-23 pre-season practice game in February.

The cross-town rivals met in a similar clash for the first time last pre-season, with the Power winning by 11 points.

This year’s game will take place on Saturday, February 29, at Thebarton Oval, according to the Port Adelaide club website. The under-23 fixture to take place in each club’s pre-season bye week.

Port Adelaide will start its pre-season campaign with its intra-club hitout at its Alberton Oval home base on Friday, February 14.

The Power play the first of its two Marsh Community Series pre-season games on Sunday, February 23 against Brisbane at the Moreton Bay Central Sports Complex in Burpengary. It will then play the Western Bulldogs at Bennett Oval in Whyalla on Saturday, March 7.

The Crows will play their first Marsh Series game against Melbourne at Casey Fields on Saturday, February 22, with a home game against Gold Coast at Noarlunga Oval on Friday, March 6.

Meanwhile, Adelaide forward Darcy Fogarty has been ruled out of Sunday’s T20 Showdown bushfire charity cricket game.

Crows head of football Adam Kelly said the decision was precautionary with Fogarty experiencing minor hamstring soreness.

“We are fully aware this is an important event for the South Australian community,” Kelly told the club website.

“Darcy has reported minor back and hamstring symptoms and he’s extremely disappointed to miss the cricket match.

“This is a precautionary measure to ensure the rest of his pre-season is not impacted.

“We expect him to be training fully by next week.”

Fellow forward Lachlan Murphy will replace Fogarty in the Crows team for the game.
