Glenelg delays finalising squad to front Central District in SANFL as Eagles lose big gun Hayes for Redlegs test

Glenelg is considering its options to face Central District and Woodville-West Torrens will be without a gun forward at The Parade. See all this week’s ins and outs.

SANFL Round 10 highlights

Glenelg will delay trimming two players from its squad to face Central District at the Bay on Sunday until after training on Friday night.

The Tigers named seven players on the bench, including Brad Agnew and Aaron Joseph, who both missed last week’s four-point loss to South Adelaide at Noarlunga Oval.

At least one change is certain after utility Tom Schott was ruled out because of a leg injury.

Bulldogs forward Cooper Dahms will make his first appearance at league level in more than a year after using the past two weeks in reserves to prove he had fully recovered from a knee reconstruction.

Surgery was necessary after he ruptured the ACL in the loss to South Adelaide at Noarlunga Oval in round 6 last year.

“He is ready to go for league,” Bulldogs chief executive Kris Grant said. “He did some good things in his first game back and then was a little better last week.

“It’s going to be difficult, Glenelg at Glenelg on a Sunday gets a good crowd and they are playing good footy. We have the job ahead of us.”

Woodville-West Torrens has lost gun forward Jack Hayes for the clash against Norwood at The Parade on Saturday after hurting his knee in the win over West Adelaide last weekend.

Scans cleared Hayes of any structural damage to the knee and the club is optimistic he will return after next week’s bye.

The Eagles will also be without Jake Johansen, impressive last week playing at both ends of the ground, due to personal reasons.

The Redlegs have opted not to risk onballer Matt Panos and speedster Ed Smart and will give them more time to recover from heel and hamstring issues respectively. They will return after next week’s bye.
