SANFL Round 16 highlights

GLENELG’S most potent attacking weapon Josh Scott has beaten a charge at the SANFL tribunal which would have ended his season.

The strong-marking forward successfully challenged a charge of rough conduct on West Adelaide’s Jono Beech at Glenelg Oval on Sunday and it was dismissed.

Scott was facing a three-match ban had he failed in his defence, which would have ended his season as there are only four rounds remaining. He had already accepted a two-game suspension for rough conduct against Bloods’ wingman John Noble.

Scott will miss the battles against North Adelaide at Prospect Oval on Sunday and Adelaide at Glenelg Oval on August 18 and it seriously damages his hopes of claiming the Ken Farmer Medal as the league’s leading goalkicker.

Sturt’s Mark Evans leads the race for the Medal with 36, three more than Scott, who had led until last weekend.

Central District’s Fraser Fort was fined $200 and given a reprimand for engaging in rough conduct against Double Blues’ defender Jack Stephens at Unley Oval on Sunday.

It was an expensive game for Fort, who also accepted a $200 fine for striking Steven Slimming.
