It’s official. SuperCoaches are better by the beach

After two rounds, the postcode of 5044 – covering the suburbs of Somerton Park and Glengowrie – is the best-performing SuperCoach area in South Australia.

Hailing from the south-west of Adelaide, SuperCoach teams ‘Rays Outdoors’ and ‘RatPack’, separated by just one point, are ranked five and six, respectively, in the state.

In a competition with more than 190,000 competitors, both teams are doing a fine job representing South Australia, sitting inside the top 26 in the nation.

Despite not playing SuperCoach in the past five seasons, Landscaper Bradley Rayson, 18, and his team ‘Rays Outdoors’ sit just 77 points off the overall leader and the $50k first prize.

“This is my first year back playing SuperCoach after a 5-year-stint in the paddock,” Rayson said.

“And this is my highest ranking ever.”

Rayson, from Glengowrie, credits three Bulldogs ball-magnets and a left-field Saint for his blistering early-season form.

Saint Jade Gresham, left, was best-on-ground against the Bombers in Round 2.

“Jack Macrae’s been the go-to skipper and Tom Liberatore and Caleb Daniel have been on fire,” Rayson replied when quizzed about his best starting selection.

“And there’s also Jade Gresham,” he added.

That’s the Saint who scored 121 points in Round 2 and is in just one per cent of teams.

Well played, Bradley.

A little bit further down Brighton Road, in the postcode of 5049, lives the top-ranked SuperCoach in South Australia.

After accumulating 4627 points in the first two weeks, ‘Albys Guns’ sits at No. 1 in the state and No. 8 in the country.

Also from 5049, the postcode which covers Kingston Park, Marino, Seacliff, Seacliff Park and Seaview Downs, hails the 13th-ranked team in the state, ‘Things look Rozee’.

When asked what he loved most about where he lived, Rayson said “it’s close to the beach”.

Of course he did.

Maybe The Phantom needs a change of scenery because it seems to be working for those working down that way at the moment.
