Just a week before the first bounce of the 2019 AFL season and the Advertiser.com.au’s football experts have put their pride on the line to give their predictions for the campaign ahead.
And it is the Demons most predict will cast a spell over the competition.
Melbourne is the popular choice for the flag with five of our 12 football experts selecting South Australian Simon Goodwin’s team to be standing on the dais on the last day of September this year.
After the Demons’ fairytale run to make the final eight in 2018 which ended with a loss to eventual premier West Coast in the preliminary final, our experts believe Melbourne is primed for a serious run at the flag.
More than half of the experts have put the Demons to finish in the top four.
Richmond also rates highly among the panellists, with three selecting the Tigers to win a second flag in three years. Two have picked West Coast to go back to back, with one vote each for Collingwood and Adelaide to win the premiership.
In a shock move, the Crows selection has come from the Power’s games records holder, Kane Cornes.
After last year’s disappointing season, our experts have tipped the Crows to bounce back in 2019 with everyone predicting they will return to finals.
But our experts have lost faith in the Power, with just three selecting the side to be part of the action in September.
