The draft order has had a major shake-up after a frantic AFL trade period – and there could be more changes to come.
Clubs can continue to trade draft picks until November 8 before a pause until the national draft on November 20-21, when live trades are a key feature of the event.

Clubs are bracing for as many as 27 players to be taken in the first round in what is being rated one of the deepest drafts in years.
A combination of free agency compensation, father-son selections and academy picks will cause the first night of the draft to balloon out for consecutive seasons.
The 2023 AFL draft was the longest first round since GWS entered the league in 2011 (26 first round picks plus priority and compensation selections), with Carlton taking Ashton Moir with the 29th overall selection and the final pick of the first round.
While it is unlikely this year’s draft drags on as long, it could run close, with already five extra first-round selections due to free agency compensation and North Melbourne priority picks.
Brisbane will leave the first night with two of the top-20 players in the draft, with Levi Ashcroft and Sam Marshall both tied to the Lions.
Gold Coast will land Leo Lombard inside the first round, while Essendon expects to match an early bid for exciting forward Isaac Kako.
Carlton father-son prospect Ben Camporeale was touted as a potential first-round pick at stages this season, however will likely hear his name called out in the second round now.
WHEN IS THE 2024 AFL DRAFT?
The 2024 AFL national draft will be held over two nights, with the first round to take place on Wednesday, November 20. The following rounds will be conducted on Thursday, November 21. The rookie and pre-season drafts will follow on Friday, November 22.
WHO ARE THE TOP PROSPECTS?
The talent pool for this year’s AFL national draft runs deep. At the start of the season it was all about the midfielders – and the prized No.1 pick is still expected to come from a group of about six onballers at the pointy end of the order. That group includes Victorians Jagga Smith, Finn O’Sullivan, Levi Ashcroft, Josh Smillie and Sam Lalor, and South Australian gun Sid Draper.
Early expectations are that more players will be drafted this year than last, with 64 prospects having been picked up in the 2023 national draft.
