A $10 million development at Mary MacKillop College has received planning approval from the State Commission Assessment Panel.
The landmark development is the largest the college has seen in 20 years, and will see a double-storey contemporary science and art centre and innovation hub built at the entrance of the school.
Construction on the project will begin in December, with completion expected for the beginning of the 2024 school year.
“We now require innovative facilities to reflect our tradition of educational excellence and commitment to continuous improvement,” said Principal Kath McGuigan.
“We’re building an environment for girls to build their own futures.”
The new facility will meet growing demands for science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) education for girls.
It will be named the Tenison Centre after Father Tenison Woods, who was an artist and scientist.
The building will feature notable Australian scientists and artists, including alumni of Mary MacKillop College, who will be honoured with their named displayed on staircases.
