A massive bowling alley in regional Queensland, described as one of the best in Australia, has hit the market as a going concern.

Toowoomba’s Sunset Superbowl, the largest of its kind in the city, has hit the market through Savills Brisbane as a going concern for the first time since it opened in 1997.

The 2400sq m alley sits on more than 8600sq m of land on the corner of South and Greenwattle streets in Glenvale.

The facility includes 24 bowling lanes, 40 arcade machines, a commercial kitchen and cafe and a fully-licensed bar.

The expressions of interest campaign includes both the freehold property and the business, with agent Joe Maloney suggesting there was room for expansion.

A 100 per cent interest in the freehold property and going concern business operation of the Toowoomba Sunset Superbowl is offered for sale for the first time since the operation commenced in 1997,” he wrote in the online listing.

“Located on the corner of Greenwattle Street and South Street, Toowoomba Sunset Superbowl features convenient access from Toowoomba City and the greater Toowoomba region.

“The property features spare land providing potential for future expansion.”

Mr Maloney was contacted for comment.

Sunset Superbowl has remained a popular destination for both social bowlers and clubs, with the venue ranked among the best 15 bowling alleys in Queensland according to TripAdvisor.

On its website, the business said its 24 lanes made it one of the largest in Australia and said it was rated among the best for multiple aspects.

“(We are) one of Australia’s largest Tenpin Bowling Centres, and rated as one of the top five in the country for amenities, presentation and performance,” the website said.

“Hosting local, regional, state and national bowling competitions, our centre is fully accredited with the representative State and National Tenpin Bowling Associations.”

Its only competition is Garden City Lanes inside iPlay Toowoomba Bowl (formerly Bazinga) on Herries St.

The expressions of interest campaign ends on August 8, 2024.

The sale opportunity comes as significant development is set to occur on the land around the bowling alley by top Toowoomba developer Rob Weymouth.
Mr Weymouth has recently reworked a $25m health and wellbeing precinct for the surrounding site, which will now include 14 turnkey homes.
