A new arcade and indoor bowling facility could soon be opening its doors on a block of land near two private schools on the north shore.

Koko Bowling has applied to open its sixth Sydney gaming hub in Chatswood with features including arcade gaming areas and a ten pin bowling alley.

Koko Bowling is one of Sydney’s biggest video arcade game franchises, described as offering entertainment facilities “where fun knows no limits”.

The $669,977 development proposal would involve turning the ground level of 88 Archer St in Chatswood into a gaming hub that would also have a cafe, gift shop, pool tables, store rooms, mahjong tables, toilets and a four-lane tenpin bowling alley.

The building is surrounded by numerous office buildings, the Chatswood Chase shopping centre and is across the road from Our Lady of Dolours Primary School.

It is also a short walk from St Pius X College which caters for more than 1000 students.

Koko Bowling, in a statement, said the facility would include a range of entertainment offerings including bowling lanes, professional billiard tables and arcade machines.

A spokesman said the outlet would be a “family base sports and recreation centre” and include noise mitigation measures such as sound isolation to minimise impacts on surrounding buildings.

Development plans to Willoughby Council stated the proposal would provide “amusement and recreational activities” for the local community.

“It will contribute to the commercial centre (and) create an active street frontage to attract pedestrian traffic and contribute to the vibrant street,” the plans stated.

“The amusement centre will also contribute to the diverse mix of uses and increase activation on a street adjacent to Victoria Ave.”

The outlet is expected to open next year, pending council approval.

If approved, the facility would become the sixth Koko Bowling arcade in Sydney with the company also operating stores in Hornsby, Burwood, Hurstville and two outlets in the CBD.

The plans have been lodged with Willoughby Council and are expected to open for public submissions in coming weeks.

Koko Bowling said if the development was approved, the facility would open next year.
