The battle for Australia’s best homes is as fierce as any interstate footy clash.
From Flinders Lane’s bewilderingly beautiful Blue Cave, White Nest to Annandale’s mind-blowing Batman House, from Deep Creek’s futuristic Naiko Retreat to Toowoomba’s gravity defying Cliffhanger, they are hard to separate for best on ground, but we gave ourselves the task anyway.
We recently brought you the Top 50 Homes from each state of NSW, SA, Victoria and Queensland. Now we’re showcasing the Top 25 homes from each state in our ultimate list of the 100 most incredible homes in Australia for 2022.
They take their designs and inspiration from many sources and many lands but there is no doubt each home has something quintessentially Australian about it.
Take for example our love of pools as showcased by Bondi’s one-of-a-kind Living Screen House, where the indoor, goldfish-style pool is truly a work of art.
These homes take in the beauty and the brutality of the Australian environment and meld it into a living experience like no other, anywhere in the world, Fairhaven’s Pole House is a fantastic illustration of just this.

It was a mighty task cutting these incredible abodes down to just 100.
But in our chats with architects, designers, real estate agents and even ourselves, they all revealed something incredible about themselves, that we couldn’t ignore and couldn’t leave out. Here they are, presented in no particular order.
