Before Harry and Meghan’s baby Archie was born the couple was told he would not have a ‘prince’ title nor have private security as the royal family allegedly questioned “how brown” the baby would be at birth.

In a sensational revelation on their tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan said as she was heavily pregnant and struggling she was advised that whether she and Harry had a boy or girl, the child would not have a title and thus have a private security detail.

This, Meghan said was said in tandem with the family then questioning “how dark his skin might be when he was born”.

Winfrey expressed horror at the revelation and wanted to know who had said that but Meghan said it would be “very damaging to them” if she revealed who had said that but it was all relayed to her by hubby Harry after he had spoken with family members.

Oprah asked whether her mixed race was an issue to which Meghan would not directly answer.

She said it was the lack of security that she and Harry decided to break with tradition and not publicly show the baby from the hospital maternity ward steps as other royals had done.

Meghan said she was told a centuries-old tradition was being changed.

“It’s not their right to take it away,” Meghan said.

“While I was pregnant they said they want to change the convention. For Archie. Why?”

Meghan said she suspected the fact that she was bi-racial had impacted the decision to treat Archie differently.

She said that Harry had related conversations to her that had with the family where the colour of their baby’s skin had been a matter of concern.

“In those months when I was pregnant,” she said.

The shock revelation comes after Meghan said she felt “lonely” and isolated in the Royal family after their wedding, comparing her time living in London to the experience of being locked down by coronavirus.

She said her reality had been far different to what the public perceived it to be, describing one conversation where she had been advised to “lay low … because you are everywhere”.

“And I said: ‘I have left the house twice in four months. I am everywhere but I am nowhere’,” she said.

Meghan said that she knew “we weren’t being protected” after the couple’s Australian tour when she was pregnant.

She said she wasn’t protected from “a real character assassination” and that her then unborn child, Archie, was singled out and treated worse than the Queen’s other great grandchildren.

“They were saying they didn’t want him to be a prince or a princess … which would be different rom protocol, and that he wasn’t going to receive security,” Meghan said.

“This went on for the last few months of our pregnancy.

“He needs to be safe …”

She said she was told by Harry and other family members.

“It was a decision that they felt appropriate,” she said.
