A teenager accused of repeatedly stabbing a nightclubber — who almost died — with a machete in “back-up” of his mate is finding adult jail a “frightening experience”, a court has heard.

Brandon Tsatsis, 19, was charged alongside co-accused Marc Bounassif, 19, over the horrific Revolver Nightclub stabbing which left a patron clinging to life in the early hours of September 15.

Mr Tsatsis failed at a second attempt at bail in the Supreme Court of Victoria on Friday.

Justice Jane Dixon said the teen posed an “unacceptable risk” to the community, referring to CCTV footage which captured him allegedly stabbing the victim up to three times with a machete while on bail with specific conditions he not possess a controlled weapon.

“It appears apparent from the CCTV that (Mr Tsatsis) was aiming to provide back-up to his friend, Marc Bounassif, and that he continued to do so even after Marc Bounassif had stabbed the victim a number of times,” Justice Dixon said.

The victim, a 31-year-old Endeavour Hills man, suffered life-threatening injuries and was placed in an induced coma for five days following the attack.

He was lying at the bottom of the nightclub stairs when he was allegedly set upon by Mr Tsatsis and Mr Bounassif, who is accused of knifing him several times before fleeing in an Uber booked under a false number.

The victim suffered a punctured lung, severed artery and hand wounds and was forced to move back in with his parents to receive full time care.

“The offending is extremely serious and could have led to even more severe consequences for the victim, up to and including loss of life. Good fortune and swift medical intervention avoided a worse outcome,” Justice Dixon said.

The court heard Mr Tsatsis was locked up for the first time in an adult prison on remand and was finding it a “frightening experience”.

However Justice Dixon acknowledged the fear felt by his victim at the prospect of his release from custody and that prior efforts to keep Mr Tsatsis out of trouble had been unsuccessful.

She also noted his “apparent unwillingness to desist from carrying edged weapons” when concluding he should remain locked up.

Mr Tsatsis is facing charges of intentionally causing serious injury and possessing a controlled weapon without lawful excuse in the vicinity of a licensed premises.

He faces a maximum term of 20 years imprisonment if convicted.

Both men will return to court on December 19.
