During his first court appearance at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, Mr Bounassif was seated in the dock beside two custody officers wearing a black long-sleeve shirt.

Mr Bounassif’s lawyer said it was her client’s first time in custody and he was vulnerable due to his young age and mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, ADHD and post-traumatic stress order.

Magistrate Rosemary Fall ordered Mr Bounassif be seen by a custody nurse.

After the hearing, a crying woman briefly spoke to Mr Bounassif through a glass wall separating the dock from the rest of the court.

The Craigieburn man is charged with intentionally causing serious injury, possessing a controlled weapon in vicinity of a licenced premises, possessing cannabis and MDMA, failing to assist access to an electronic storage device and failing to answer bail.

Items including clothing and illicit drugs were allegedly seized during Wednesday’s raid.

Police are still searching for another man over the stabbing which took place about 4am on Sunday morning.

CCTV footage shows two men fleeing along Macquarie St a short time after the incident.

Witnesses to the frenzied stabbing revealed gruesome details of the attack that left a man fighting for life in a pool of his own blood.

In the dim lighting of Revolver Upstairs, with electronic music blaring in the background, Sienna Edmondson, 27, watched as two hooded figures cornered and stabbed a 31-year-old Endeavour Hills man with a long hunting knife just after 4am on Sunday.

Ms Edmondson told the Herald Sun she was heading to the smokers’ area at the back of the venue when the victim got into an argument with two men at the top of a stairwell.

“I got in the middle of it (fight) and was putting my hands up between them both to try and stop this fight,” she said.

Unprovoked and outnumbered, one of the two men repeatedly thrust a knife into the man’s chest and abdomen.

“He got shanked … he got knifed for no reason,” Ms Edmondson said.

Two patrons, who wished to remain anonymous, said after the man was stabbed, he followed his attackers down the stairs as they continued to slash at him, all while asking them “why did you just do that to me?”.

One of the witnesses said she heard one of the attackers bark “I’m going to f--king kill you” as he stabbed him on the staircase.

“The guy stabbed him in the chest, in the spine and then he went to get him in the face, but he put his hand up in the way,” she said.

“He just stood there and didn’t realise he had even been hit at that point.”

At least three bystanders, including Ms Edmondson, assisted the man on to the floor of the podium in the stairwell.

“We tried to cover him, I even used my jacket, we were just trying to put pressure on the wounds … he was bleeding out on to the concrete,” Ms Edmondson said.

“He was pierced, he was bleeding through his front and his back and he left a puddle of blood … I’ve never seen anything like it in my life.”

Struggling to stay conscious, the victim spoke what he thought would be his last words to those helping him on the ground.

One patron helping him said: “He was fading in and out of consciousness and then he looked at me in the eyes and said ‘I’m really sorry man, I just can’t do this, I’m not going to make it … tell my family that I love them’.”

Ms Edmondson said she screamed out for help around them, as clueless patrons walked by or watched on.

“We screamed at security guards to grab tea towels,” one witness said.

“The security guards just stood there watching us, they didn’t actually intervene.

“Security did nothing, they actually disappeared before it happened.”

Patrons claimed security then told them to “leave him alone” and “just let him be”.

Two days after the attack and the 31-year-old man is still in hospital, now in a stable condition, believed to have sustained about nine stab wounds.

“There was blood everywhere, we were covered head to toe in it,” one witness said.

“I keep having flashbacks of all the blood on my hands.”

Those who helped the victim say they were furious patrons were allowed to party on for hours after the man was stabbed, and despite police having cordoned off the scene.
