Townsville crime: Knife-wielding crim foiled in attempt to rob Douglas fish and chip shop

A manhunt is underway for a man armed with a large knife who attempted to rob a fish and chip shop in Douglas overnight.

A manhunt is underway for a man armed with a large knife who attempted to rob a fish and chip shop in Douglas.

Police are investigating the attempted armed robbery of The Fish Stop Douglas on Riverside Boulevard about 5.30pm on Thursday.

Initial investigation show a masked man entered the premises produced a large knife from the waistband of his pants and made demands for money from the 29-year-old male business owner.

The offender left the scene without obtaining anything.

Police said no one was physically injured in the incident.
