THE Mansfield Hotel is undergoing a million-dollar renovation to bring the historic pub’s beer garden and once popular nightclub back to life.

The $1.2m upgrades, which will bring a fresh new look to the iconic Queenslander hotel, will help get the pub ready to host great music acts.

Renovations have already started on the old Warehouse nightclub, which closed in the late 80s.

Established in 1899 as The Federal Hotel, The Mansfield has seen many eras and The Warehouse nightclub was a thriving live music venue throughout the 1980s, seeing the likes of Jimmy Barnes, Midnight Oil and INXS take to the stage.

The Warehouse has not been used for live music since.

Operator Australian Venue Co is undertaking the extensive renovation to put The Mansfield on the map as a go-to entertainment destination in the Townsville area.

“We’re excited to be breathing new life into The Warehouse, reviving the tired old venue and transforming it into a modern band room that will showcase major international and Australia touring acts and DJs. The space will also be home to an exciting line-up of entertainment such as comedy, drag and burlesque shows,” Australian Venue Co CEO Craig Ellison said.

“This band room will be a game-changer for the Townsville music scene, bringing local residents and tourists from all walks of life to the city, all in the name of quality entertainment.”

The revamped beer garden is expected to become the perfect spot for bub goers to grab a drink and a bite to eat before or after a show in the Warehouse.

The garden will include a container bar and kitchen that will serve up a range of burgers, hotdogs, schnitzels and other fun snacks.

“Australian Venue Co is investing into The Mansfield’s renovation so that locals and tourists can experience quality entertainment and good food as part of a modern pub experience,” Mr Ellison said.

The current venue will remain open for the majority of the renovation works, with a short closure to the gaming room from July 4-7.
