The Brothers Leagues Club was alive with generosity and community spirit as the 6th Annual HopeStars Domestic Violence Awareness fundraiser once again sold out, drawing over 120 attendees.
The event, themed “Let’s do it for the Kids,” underscored the collective effort to combat domestic violence and support vulnerable children in the community.
Organised by Teresa Hope, the fundraiser blended education, community building and fun.
“It’s inspiring to see local businesses, community services, groups, and individuals come together year after year to support such an important cause.”
The event’s backdrop of camaraderie and purpose was supported by local sponsors including Zonta Club of Townsville Metro, Rotary Saints Townsville, Explore Property Munro & Co, Coles Bushland Beach and Aitkenvale Stores, as well as Queensland Country Bank.
These supporters played a vital role in making the event a success, highlighting the community’s commitment to ending domestic violence and supporting children affected by it.
A highlight of the function was the popular mega raffle, which saw many winners go home with prizes donated by local supporters.
Guests were also treated to a series of compelling speakers—combining insights and heartwarming stories— spotlighting the vital work of #ZephyrEducation and DVNQ’s AARDVARK program.
These organisations provide counselling and support for children and their carers, helping them recover from trauma, return to school equipped with essential supplies, and rebuild their lives.
The fundraiser culminated in nearly $4500 raised—funds that will be shared between Zephyr Education and AARDVARK, ensuring continued support for children and their families grappling with domestic violence.
