James Tamou, Kane Linnett and more named in Cowboys starting thirteen of the last 30 years
It’s been thirty years on and off the field, with some of the biggest, and hardest working, Cowboys named in the club’s starting XIII of the past three decades.

The Cowboys celebrated the 30th anniversary of their first season in the national competition on Saturday night, capping off the occasion by naming a 30 Year Team.
The team includes some of the greatest Cowboys to ever pull on the jersey for North Queensland, including premiership-winning pair James Tamou and Kane Linnett.
Tamou said it was an honour to be included in such impressive company.
“It’s quite an amazing feeling. Once you exit the NRL bubble, you sort of get on with life. But it’s nice to come in for times like these to celebrate,” Tamou said.
“The boys spoke about the legends of the game, the guys that laid the platform, and some of our historical matches that the players have been in.
“To be included in such a team, I’m very surprised with the calibre of players around. It’s a nice feeling.”
Maybe one of the surprise inclusions was 164-game Cowboy Linnett, who recently represented Mackay in the Foley Shield as captain-coach.
“It’s a very unreal feeling, pretty humbling. I was pretty shocked when I found out, to be honest, there were a lot of good players up there that have played a lot of rep footy,” Linnett said.
“But to be a named among some of them boys is special. It means everything.
“I said when I left in 2018, this club will always hold a big heart in my heart, and it still does. North Queensland is a part of me.”
