A viral TikTok renovator who transformed an abandoned “crack den” in Charters Towers into a cute family cottage with a white picket fence will be donating a portion of its sale to charity.

Nat Redgrave bought a neglected three-bedroom home on Craven St for less than $60,000 in June and quickly went viral as he began to share videos of his renovation project on TikTok.

A before video of the home, showing its filthy interior, burnt-out power box and overgrown garden, has gained a whopping 2.6 million views.

Mr Redgrave said after three months of hard work, the home’s renovations were finally done, and it’s ready to go on the market, with an open home scheduled for this Saturday.

“The transformation has been massive — it’s gone from crack den to the cottage on Craven,” he said.

“It’s turned over a new leaf from being an absolute pit of a house to a really cute family home. It’s got a white picket fence, a little arbour and everything.”

He said they had already received a few inquiries to buy the home around the $240,000 mark.

“We’ll be looking to donate about $10,000 to $20,000 of the profit to a local charity in Charters Towers yet to be decided,” Mr Redgrave said.

“I’d prefer to choose one that helps people with drugs and mental health issues. It feels like the right thing to do, and we’ll be doing something good for the community.”

The NQ handyman said they ended up blowing their initial renovation budget from $60,000 to about $110,000.

“This was a project just the biggest can of worms,” he said.

“You think how bad it can be? Didn’t realise just how bad until we started pulling stuff apart.

“It was just a mess of a mess. It took at least three weeks to clear out the yard alone.

“I think I paid about $3000 in dump fees because there was that much crap to dump it wasn’t funny.”

The public will be able to check the renovations out at open home on Saturday.

He said some of the significant upgrades to the home included, re-battening the ceilings, replacing the power box, power points and doors throughout, along with installing new LED lights, airconditioning systems and fans.

Mr Redgrave said the Craven St renovation had been his most challenging renovation to date.

He’s already started on a new project, renovating a house on Hodgkinson Street that’s been left vacant for about four years.
