Top FNQ picks for Townsville Cup Day

More than a handful of FNQ trainers and owners will be confident of bringing back a big race from Townsville this Friday on their Cup Day. The Cairns Post has selected a few FNQ horses to follow at Cluden Park tomorrow.

More than a handful of FNQ trainers and owners will be confident of bringing back a big race from Townsville this Friday on their Cup Day.

The Cairns Post has selected a few FNQ horses to follow at Cluden Park tomorrow, including our best chances in the Cup itself as well as the feature Cleveland Bay Handicap.

The CB is worth $65,000 this year while the Townsville Cup will be run for $85,000.

LOCAL CLEVELAND BAY HOPES

Space Time and Tambo’s Heart (Tolga trainer Janel Ryan).

Sword Of Justice, for Gordonvale trainer Lawrence Reys, was in the final field of 16, before being scratched.

Hidden In Heaven (Mareeba trainer Leanne Ashford) is chasing three straight wins.

Hidden In Heaven will need to contend with a wide gate.

And, the Cairns-owned Monsieur Gustave is a big chance as the top-weight, while former Gordonvale-based trainer Jay Morris has Tango Rain in the race.

Gordonvale trainer Ralph Baker and Bold Endeavour just snuck into the final field of 16.

FNQ CHANCES IN THE 2020 CUP

The Cairns-owned Best Hoffa is chasing two straight north Queensland Cups after winning in Mackay just the other day.

Best Hoffa is trained by Alby Molino and will be ridden by Pietro Romeo.

Tablelands trainer Lisa Donovan has the consistent Buxton in the big race, who will jump from the inside alley, and be ridden by Cairns hoop Emily Cass.

Fellow Tablelands stayers Rock Spur and Tunero loom as outside chances in the 2000m feature race.

Reigning Townsville Cup winner Stephen Massingham thinks his new stayer Follow Suit is every chance as well.

Massingham won the race 12 months ago with The Harrovian.
