A woman visiting her mum with her two young kids and new boyfriend has been stabbed outside a northern suburbs home, with another man charged with two counts of attempted murder.
The 41-year-old man was arrested and charged after a man and a woman, both aged 40, were stabbed outside a home on Coventry Rd, Munno Para about 6.30pm Friday night.
He has been refused bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Monday.
The victims were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries with the man being treated for an abdomen injury while the woman sustained a laceration to her arm.
Neighbours have described the horrific aftermath of the violent stabbing on the suburban street saying witnesses detained the man, who allegedly wielded a knife against the man and woman.
One resident – who has asked to be anonymous – said she was shocked to see the violent struggle with blood splatters on the ground.
She said the house next door to her where the violence occurred was owned by a grandmother who was being visited by her 40-year-old daughter and two grandchildren – an eight-year-old girl and a three-year-old boy.
The neighbour said the daughter’s new partner was also there as they were planning on going out to the movies later that evening.
However, she said things went awry when the daughter’s ex-partner arrived at the grandmother’s house.
“When I came home, all I saw were people pinning someone up against the fence … and there were blood stains on the floor,” she said.
“There was a lot of screaming and crying so I raced out and called the cops and the man was held down until the police came and arrested him.
Another resident Alyssa Atkinson, 55, said her family was shocked by the violent nature of the incident so close to home.
“There were so many ambulances here … about eight vehicles all together,” she said.
“I stepped outside after all the ambulances arrived and saw a man limping around, he looked dazed and disorientated.
“I didn’t recognise anyone who was involved, but it’s just all so frightening because nothing this bad has happened here before.”
This comes after the unrelated incident in which 21-year-old William Holdback was allegedly stabbed to death at Welland.
On April 10, Mr Holdback was found unresponsive on Barrpowell Street after he met at a clandestine meeting around 1.20am with two other people.
An altercation allegedly occurred between three men which led to Mr Holdback being chased down and stabbed.
Liam Slann, 26, was arrested and has faced the Adelaide Magistrates Court on the charges of murder. while Brian Slann, 51, was arrested in his Elizabeth East and appeared by video link in the Adelaide Magistrates. He did not apply for bail.
