The Port Adelaide Enfield Council has released a draft master plan for the redevelopment of the Semaphore foreshore.
Stage one will see the redevelopment of the central plaza, with work along the rest of the foreshore subject to future design and funding.
The council has proposed a new youth hub featuring a skate park, half tennis court, exercise facilities, communal tables and shelters.
Plans also include a public waterplay space with Kaurna sculptural features, alongside a tree-lined lawn area with a stage and shade structure for events.
A new train stop and cafe building with community facilities have also been proposed, along with revamped beach access and expanses of lawn for community use, markets and seasonal amusements.
The pedestrian and cycle promenade is also set to be widened.
Historic artefacts will be relocated to Time Ball Tower Reserve, where the public toilets will be refurbished and various seating nooks and walking paths added.
The proposal for the redevelopment of the central plaza comes after the Semaphore water-slide was demolished in October, after it was deemed “unsafe” and “beyond economical repair” by the council.
The Port Adelaide Enfield Council is seeking feedback from the community on the draft master plan.
Members of the public are invited to attend pop-up engagements at central plaza on Saturday June 2 from 10am to noon, and Tuesday July 5 from 9am to 11am. The project team will be available to answer questions.
