Flights were cancelled and a road warning issued as another pea-souper shrouded parts of Adelaide on Saturday.

An Adelaide Airport spokesman revealed low visibility impacted early flights resulting in cancellations.

“Fog has impacted arrivals and departures this morning at Adelaide Airport,” he said.

“Early flights were able to depart but low visibility impacted operations between 6.30am and 8am.

“One Qantas and one Jetstar flight from Melbourne to Adelaide diverted back to Melbourne.

“Approximately 6 departures and 8 arrivals have been impacted by the weather at this stage.

“The visibility has improved but there is still a chance of fog impacting services through the morning.”

Meanwhile, Bureau of Meteorology spokesman Chris Kent said the fog settled across the Adelaide in the dawn hours.

“The fog has thickened up significantly since 7am this morning and now that the sun’s come up, it can be seen quite clearly,” he told The Advertiser.

“The fog started up in the northern suburbs but it has made it’s way down into the city now and then down into the southern suburbs.”

According to Mr Kent, areas most impacted by the fog are Mount Lofty Ranges, across Eyre Peninsula, in the Mid-North and Flinders District.

The BOM has issued a road weather alert in response to the current weather conditions which advises motorists to turn on their headlights, slow down and take extra care driving.

The weather forecast for this weekend will continue with those “wintry patterns” with isolated showers likely to come down on Adelaide on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.

Temperatures will stay at 15C this weekend before dropping to a chilly 13C in the upcoming week.
