According to the State Emergency Service (SES), most people should be able to cope during a low intensity heatwave, but it is recommended that “the very young, older people or those with medical conditions should take care”.

The fire danger rating on Sunday in Mount Lofty Ranges is ‘high’.

All regions will experience a heatwave on Monday, with the forecast predicting maximum temperatures of 38C and a 40% chance of rain in the evening.

The Flinders, Mid North, North East Pastoral and Riverland districts have been upgraded to a “severe” heatwave rating with the SES encouraging all people to be mindful of the heat despite their age or health.

Conditions will become less intense on Tuesday with a maximum of 26C predicted, but severe heatwave warnings will still be in place for the North East Pastoral district.
