Two South Australian families have been left devastated after losing everything to two separate house fires, including one family with three children lucky to escape with their lives.
A GoFundMe organised by Jack Ovens for his brother’s family on Saturday said the husband, wife and three children had woken in the middle of the night to find their house on fire, “destroying lots of personal possessions” and leaving them homeless.
“An electrical fault caused the fire in the middle of the night, and it was fortunate that they all made it out of the house,” he wrote.
“My brother Jamie, his wife, Georgia and their three young children have become victims of a house fire, leaving them without a home.
“I aim to raise money to help them get back on their feet and ensure the kids have a roof over their heads. It would mean the world to me for your help so we can assist them as much as possible.
Mr Ovens set a target of $10,000 for his brother’s family, which is almost at the $5000 mark, and wrote in the ad that any extra money that went over the target amount, would be “paid forward” to someone else who needed help on GoFundMe.
In a separate post, a GoFundMe has been organised by Kia Morris for her “best friend” Chloe, her partner Brenton and their son Ryder, after a house fire burned everything they owned late last month.
In the ad, Ms Morris said the funds would not replace everything they lost, but it would help the family to get back on their feet.
“On Friday the 30th of August my best friend Chloe, her partner Brenton and their son Ryder lost not only their home to a house fire but also all their personal and treasured belongings,” she wrote.
“I cannot imagine the devastation and stress their family is experiencing during this difficult time. I started this fundraiser in the hopes to help this beautiful family restore most of what they have lost.
“The donations won’t replace everything because many things such as Ryder’s keepsakes are irreplaceable, however they will make the world of difference to the family.”
Ms Morris set a target amount of $10,000 for her friend Chloe, Brenton and Ryder, which is currently just over $5000.
