Four men have walked away from two separate light aircraft landing incidents on Sunday afternoon.
Two men escaped uninjured when a plane collapsed on landing at Parafield Airport about 3pm.
Emergency services rushed to the scene where they discovered the front nose wheel of the twin engine Piper aircraft had collapsed. The pilot managed to steer the plane on to a grassed area.
The two men on board were uninjured.
Witness Paul Winds said he heard “metal noise”, then a “big bang” and saw the propeller bend when the pair left the aircraft.
“The pilot did what he did best,” Mr Winds said.
The aircraft will be towed for examination as part of an Australian Transport Safety Bureau investigation.
Across the city, a wind gust forced a Harmony light sport aircraft to overrun the runway while it was landing at Aldinga Airfield just after 4.30pm.
The student and instructor on board were shaken but otherwise uninjured and managed to walk away.
Recreation Aviation Australia will be notified about the incident.
