Emergency services rushed to Yatala Labour Prison after two inmates were involved in an incident on Christmas Day.
A Department of Correctional Services spokeswoman confirmed there was an incident between two male prisoners about 3pm on Wednesday at the Northfield prison.
“As a result, both prisoners have been taken to hospital for assessment,” the spokeswoman said.
The initial emergency services call-out suggested a weapon was involved in the incident, which the spokeswoman would not confirm.
The nature of the injuries to the two men is not known.
It comes after Kayla Ellison, 28, was sentenced to two years imprisonment, reduced to one year and six months, on Monday after pleading guilty to two counts of introducing a prohibited item into Yatala Labour Prison on April 9.
Police confiscated an object, which was identified as illicit drugs wrapped inside a condom.
Judge Michael Burnett suspended the sentence on condition of a $100, two-year good behaviour bond.
