A fundraiser has been established for the family of a Tumby Bay man who died in a motorcycle crash on New Year’s Eve.
Andy Darling, 60, left his Tumby Bay home on his Harley-Davidson around 6:30pm on December 31, and later died when his motorcycle crashed on Lipson-Ungarra Rd.
His body was found on January 2, with police closing the road for several hours as major crash investigators examined the scene.
Mr Darling is the 91st and final life lost on SA roads in 2024.
Friend of Mr Darling Tyson White paid tribute to him on social media, saying that he will “forever have a hole” in his heart for his friend.
“Forever fly high mate... we all love and miss you,” Mr White said.
A GoFundMe has been started on behalf of Mr Darling’s wife and stepchildren, with organiser Isobella Rhiannon saying the tragedy has left his family “trying to navigate life after loss”.
“Your kindness, love, and support will help Renae and her family navigate this dark time,” Ms Rhiannon said.
Ms Rhiannon told The Advertiser that Mr Darling was the primary earner for the family, and money raised will go to supporting his wife and stepchildren as they deal with his passing.
