Dylan Stuart and Danika Thomson became bogged in their 4WD near Junction Dam on the Stuart Creek Station – 90km north of their home town in Roxby Downs – on Saturday.
Mr Stuart, 29, rode off on a motorbike to seek assistance while Ms Thomson, 24, remained in the car.
It is understood Mr Stuart’s motorbike later broke down, and his body was located by police on Tuesday afternoon near Gregory Creek, around 100km north of Roxby Downs.
Ms Thomson walked from the bogged vehicle after Mr Stuart had not returned for several hours, and was located by a police helicopter on Monday afternoon.
She was treated for dehydration in the local hospital.
Last Monday before the tragedy unfolded, Ms Thomson posted a photo to social media, with the caption “Love doing life with you,” followed by a love heart emoji.
Dozens of people took to social media after news of Mr Stuart’s death circulated, including one woman who said her heart was breaking for Ms Thomson.
“I can only begin to imagine the pain you and Dylan’s family are going through,” she wrote.
“Neither of you deserved this ending to what was a beautiful love story that held so much promise for the future.
“You made beautiful memories together … may they surround you and help you get through the days to come.”
Concerned family members reported Mr Stuart and Ms Thomson as missing on Sunday after they had not heard from the couple.
Police launched a large scale search on Monday with police helicopters and the family of Mr Stuart before tragically finding his body the following day.
Another man wrote on Facebook the outcome was “devastating”.
