A Mile End man alerted police to a robbery at his home on Saturday night after catching the alleged thief red-handed while viewing live security camera footage on his phone.

The homeowner, who was not home at the time, quickly alerted the police, allowing them to get to the house while the man was still inside.

He was arrested soon after at a nearby carpark.

“They quickly surrounded the house, by that time the suspect clued on and jumped over the fence,” victim James Sherry told 7NEWS.

“It was pretty rattling.”

The suspect allegedly broke into the house through a bedroom window, before he began to rummage through the house.

Private security cameras show the man running through the property and allegedly grabbing several belongings.

Mr Sherry told 7NEWS he saw the man collect things and take them to the kitchen.

He alleged the man grabbed three watches, jewellery and money.

“He had collected a few designer items but he didn’t end up grabbing them because we got to him so quickly,” he said.

Mr Sherry’s 12-week-old puppies Luna and Winnie, who were following the intruder, were not harmed.

The Torrensville suspect has been charged with serious criminal trespass and theft.

Meanwhile, two men have been arrested following an attempted robbery at Port Lincoln in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Police were called to Bridge Crescent after reports people were attempting to break in to houses and cars.

The pair, aged 22 and 24, were found by police attempting to break into a car and were charged with illegal interference of a motor vehicle and attempted serious criminal trespass.

Both were bailed to appear in Port Lincoln Magistrates Court on Thursday.
