Staff and students have returned to Paralowie School after the school went into an emergency lockdown on Monday morning.

The northern suburbs school went into an urgent lockdown on Monday after a 12-year-old student began smashing windows and kicking doors on the premises.

SA Ambulance and SA Police were called to the school following the incident.

Paralowie School Principal Julie Wilson said the school attended to the incidents promptly to avoid the situation escalating further.

“This morning a student became upset and acted in an unsafe way, which resulted in some damage to school property,” Ms Wilson said.

“To ensure the safety of students and staff, the school’s emergency procedures were enacted and the school went into a lock down.”

“The school is advising parents of the incident, and support is being made available to any students and staff who may have been impacted by it,” Ms Wilson said.

No other students or staff were injured during the incident.

Police said they were aware of the matter and are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
