SA shivers through coldest July night in 100 years
Just when you thought it couldn’t get much colder, it has. The temperature has fallen below zero overnight in some suburbs as the cold snaps bites even harder.

Adelaide endured its coldest July morning in over 100 years during Wednesday morning’s record-breaking chill.
The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed this morning’s 0.6C recorded at West Tce at 7.35am equalled the coldest morning ever in the city.
A low of 0.6C was recorded on July 24, 1908 at West Tce, with Wednesday’s cold snap equalling the century-old record.
Adelaide was the coldest capital city in the country this morning with temperatures dipping below zero in the suburbs.
Fresh off our coldest morning since 2021 on Tuesday, the temperature dropped even lower at some weather stations on Wednesday morning.
At 6am, Adelaide was below one degree, colder than Melbourne at 1.4C and Hobart at 2.7C.
Outer northern suburb Edinburgh was -0.8C at 6am, it dropped to a low of -0.7C at Roseworthy while in the city it was 0.8C at 6am.
The subzero temperatures hit all around the state as Murray Bridge recorded -1C at the Pallamana Airport while Kadina on Yorke Peninsula hit -0.4C and it was as cold as -1.5C at Ceduna overnight.
Despite the cold, Adelaide is set for a clear and sunny day with a maximum temperature of 15C in the city.
