Sing-a-long surprise at Adelaide’s 2020 Christmas pageant
The 2020 pageant was already going to be different and now a new announcement will have everyone singing the same tune.

Christmas Pageant-goers will be invited to sing along at this year’s event, which is changing its format because of the coronavirus pandemic.
In a year of firsts, the beloved Adelaide parade will be a (free) ticketed and socially-distanced event, held in the evening of November 14 at the Adelaide Oval.
A 100-strong group from the Australian Girls Choir will sing Christmas carols and a “Light of Hope” ceremony performed on stage.
The director of the National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant, Brian Gilbertson, said the audience will be invited to join in with their mobile phone lights during the ceremony, which will also feature 400 dancers and 1000 candles.
The 20,000 strong audience at the Oval will be selected by random ballot. People can apply for up to five tickets at at christmaspageant.com.au from 10am on October 29 to 10pm on October 30.
The parade will also be broadcast live on Channel 9.
Mr Gilbertson said the new elements have been designed to share a message of hope.
“The Light of Hope will be a very moving feature of the Pageant, and one that we would encourage all families at Adelaide Oval and at home to participate in,” he said.
OTR and Peregrine Corporation is supporting the event, and chairman Yasser Shahin said the new elements represent the joy and community spirit of the Christmas season.
“The Light of Hope is set to be a centrepiece of the Pageant and great symbol of optimism for South Australians, after such a challenging year for many,” Mr Shahin said.
