A woman has died in hospital following a horror crash on Port Wakefield Highway.

An woman has succumbed to her life-threatening injuries after a horrifying crash near Two Wells.

She died in hospital on Saturday.

Police and emergency services were called to the intersection of Brooks Rd and Port Wakefield Hwy at Two Wells around 2.10pm on Thursday, February 2, following reports of a collision between a truck and a car.

The driver, a 79-year-old from the Australian Capital Territory, had been fighting for her life at Royal Adelaide Hospital following the horror highway crash.

The female driver was in a white sedan with her 80-year-old Victorian passenger.

The passenger was taken to the Lyell McEwin Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The woman is the 14th person to lose their life on our state’s roads this year, compared to 4 at the same time last year.

Police said the male truck driver, 57, from Banksia Park did not sustain any injuries during the accident, but was taken to hospital for a routine blood test.

Major Crash investigators attended the scene.

Diversions were in place for southbound traffic on the highway from Mallala Rd and northbound traffic was slowed.

Around 9.45pm on Thursday, the road was cleared.

It was the second smash on the notorious highway in three days.

Closer to the city, authorities are investigating a multiple vehicle crash at Cavan.

Two cars collided at the intersection of Port Wakefield Rd and Montague Rd just before 9pm on Thursday, knocking over a traffic light and bringing down live powerlines.

All traffic signals in the area were affected and five occupants between the two vehicles from Ingle Farm were taken to hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Investigations are continuing.

Witnesses or motorists with dashcam footage from either incident are asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
