A north-western suburbs takeaway focused on selling restaurant grade meals to time-poor customers has revealed it will close after 15 years in business.
The Semaphore Pantry posted on Facebook last week that would be saying goodbye on Friday, December 1.
The cafe built a reputation for serving restaurant-quality meals in stylish, single-serve takeaway boxes and pouches for people who were time poor but still wanted quality food.
It also branched out to offering cooking classes.
Co-owners Dave and Andrea Matthews took to social media to say their thanks and farewell customers on Wednesday.
“It’s been an absolute blast with so many friendly customers who love to chat and share their lives, we have seen love and loss, children growing up, so many friendships that we cherish,” they wrote.
“Semaphore is a beautiful strip with so many wonderful traders and thanks to you also for making our business welcome, we won’t be strangers.
“Man it has been a pleasure and one we will treasure for the rest of our lives.”
But the owners said it was their time to go.
The news prompted an outpouring of supportive messages from local leaders and regulars.
Anna-Phile Griffiths wrote: “Dave and Andi, we have loved your food so much! Dave’s paté is perfection, how do we go on without it? As so many have said, it’s a pleasure to know and have a friendship with you both. We will definitely be in to grab a bite.”
And Bianca Kuchel commenting, “Thanks for providing a nourishing place for people to enjoy – both nutritionally and in their soul.”
The Semaphore Pantry will be dearly missed as demonstrated by the many comments.
