A 47-year-old Seaton man has been arrested after he was caught with a knife at a Westfield West Lakes shopping centre, the third incident to involve weapons in or near a mall in recent days.
Witnesses alerted police after seeing the man carrying a knife, just after 3.10pm on Tuesday, June 25.
Patrols rushed to the centre, located on Brebner Drive, and quickly found the man inside the mall and were able to locate the knife, after he was searched.
No one was injured during the incident, police said.
He was charged with carry offensive weapon and refused police bail. He appeared before the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday, June 26.
The incident took place the same day as a group of six teenagers were arrested and charged after allegedly causing a disturbance as well minor injury outside Arndale Shopping Centre.
Police said they were called to the Torrens Road shopping centre following reports of a group of young people threatening a man.
It is alleged that two of the boys were carrying knives while another allegedly threw a rock which hit a person on the chin and caused minor injuries.
This comes just days after a fight broke out between armed teenage boys at a Westfield Marion food court on Sunday afternoon, triggering a lockdown and a police investigation.
CCTV footage showed the teenagers chasing other boys through the shopping centre.
On Monday, it emerged that the dispute resulted following an attempt to steal a $155 jumper from the victim.
