SA’s unemployment rates for August steady at 5.7 per cent

SOUTH Australia’s unemployment remained steady at 5.7 per cent in August — its equal highest level since April.
The state’s seasonally-adjusted jobless rate, revealed by the Australian Bureau of Statistics data this morning, remained at 5.7 per cent from July.
It is the third-lowest figure in the country, trailing New South Wales (down 0.2 percentage points to 4.7 per cent) and Victoria (down 0.2 percentage points to 4.8 per cent).
The national rate seasonally-adjusted rate remained at 5.3 per cent.
The seasonally adjusted participation rate decreased in South Australia (down 0.6 percentage points to 62.2 per cent) — the highest in the nation.
In seasonally adjusted terms, the largest increase in employment was in New South Wales (up 43,200 persons), followed by Queensland (up 11,900 persons).
However, the largest decrease was in South Australia (down 8400 persons).
