Lotto: Tips and tricks that could win you millions

We can reveal for the first time Adelaide’s luckiest lottery ticket sellers over many years, with Collinswood Pharmacy and IGA at Orroroo topping the listings.

The Lott has supplied for the first time a five-year span of the highest winnings to better report the luck of some outlets.

Over the past five years customers have won first place prizes more times than any other outlet at Munno Para Newsagency 8, Virginia Lotteries Kiosk 7, and Mount Barker Central Newsagency 6.

In terms of the largest payouts over five years, the two top outlets clocked up $20m in prizes each, an extraordinary amount in Orroroo where only 500 people live.

Collinswood Pharmacy was the second outlet to record a $20m win.

The Lott spokesman Matt Hart said it had been another winning year for South Australian lottery players, with more millionaires created in the state in 2021 than any other year during the past decade.

“We’ve had about 40 division one wins in South Australia so far in 2021, and 29 of these winners became newly-minted millionaires – far exceeding the previous millionaire record of 25 set in 2019,” he said.

“Among the two newest additions to that exclusive millionaires club were two Adelaide Set for Life division one winners who won $20,000 a month for 20 years earlier this month. “These winners also share the title of the state’s biggest individual lottery winners for 2021.

“However, the state is no stranger to even bigger wins. The current record for the biggest individual South Australian lottery win is held by someone who scored $40 million in a Powerball draw in February 2019.

“One of my favourite South Australian lottery winners of all time was a 20-year-old Glenelg university student who found out she’d won the $4.8m Set for Life division 1 prize, but while in the middle of a university lecture.

“I don’t know how she did it, but she managed to keep her composure until after the lecture had finished. High on her shopping list was a new house and a new car for her mum.”

Overall, South Australia in 2021 racked up 37 division one wins, totalling $50.6m and 29 millionaires were created.

The postcode with the most division one winning entries was Kilkenny, which had two wins totalling $4.5 million.

The winners list is dominated by Set For Life wins, followed by Oz Lotto and Powerball.

And for 2021, many of the winners lived on Struggle Street, but this year they were also down the road from the luckiest lottery outlets in the state.

The Kilkenny Lotteries Kiosk paid out the highest amount, pipping to the post City Cross Lotteries in the CBD, $2.5m, and the Britannia Hotel in Norwood on $2.45m.

The working class city of Port Augusta also featured one of the biggest winners, with the Orana Lotto and Newsagency recording a payout of $1.6m.

Kilkenny was doubly lucky, with the Lotteries Kiosk Arndale also recording a $1.6m

Munno Para Newsagency at Smithfield also recorded $1.5m in winnings.
