SAPN storm blackout fix times leaves thousands in the dark

Thousands of South Australian regions could finally see their lights back on this morning but SA Power Networks has released a long list of areas that are still in the dark.

No end to crazy weather as SES responds to hundreds of calls

SA Power Networks says the lights will be coming on at more blacked out homes by 6am tomorrow, but thousands still have no idea how long they will have to wait.

SA Power Networks reported more than 33,000 customers were affected by power outages across the state in 171 outages by 6pm on Monday.

While many of those have now had their power restored, more than 8,600 customers were still without power by 11am on Tuesday.

Many still have no word on when their power will be restored, instead being told their time frame is to be confirmed.

SA Power Networks has issued a “to be advised” update for thousands in the Yorke Peninsula and Kangaroos Island region and in areas including Agery, East Moonta, Booers Plains, Alford, Bute, Willamulka, Kadina, Tickera, Ardrossan, Maitland, Thomas Plains, Port Vincent, Marion Bay, Germein Bay, Port Germein, Lochiel, Amyton, Coomooroo, Willowie, Appila, Booleroo Centre, Pekina, Tarcowie, Caltowie West, Laura, Stone Hut, Wirrabara, Orroroo, Booborowie, Hallet, Merriton, Crystal Brook, Pirie East and Snowtown.

People in American Beach, Auburn, Gumeracha, Kersbrook, Watervale, Gawler, Willaston Kangaroo Head, Mount Crawford, Two Wells should have power back by 9.30am.

By 10 to 11am, power should be restored to areas including Angaston, Eden Valley, Flaxman Valley, Mount McKenzie, Mount Pleasant, Tungkillo, Gum Creek and Watervale.

An Education Department spokesman said a number of government schools and preschools were closed on Monday because of power outages.

Sites closed included Unley High School, Melrose Primary, Melrose Rural Care, Booleroo Kindergarten, Booleroo Centre District School, Wilmington School and Preschool, Orroroo Preschool and Area School, Newland Park Kindergarten and Willunga Preschool.
