SA weather: Adelaide’s coldest morning in more than a year

Early risers were hit with an icy-cold morning on Monday, as below zero temperatures were experienced across the state – including a teeth-chattering minus -4C at Renmark.

Early risers have woken to the coldest morning of the year, with below zero temperatures hitting town and regions across the state.

Just after 5am, Adelaide recorded a low of 3C, making it the coldest minimum in Adelaide since last year when temperatures dropped to 2.7C on July 10.

Around the state, the Murraylands and Riverland recorded some of the lowest temperatures on Monday morning.

Renmark Airport recorded the coldest temperatures in our state of -4.2C just after 7am, while the mercury in Pallamana near Murray Bridge dropped to -3.7C.

Temperatures fell to a chilly -3.5C in Loxton, while Lameroo recorded -0.6C.

Below-zero temperatures were also recorded at Nuriootpa with -2C, while Kadina in the Yorke Peninsula dropped to -1.2C.

Below zero temperatures also hit the Flinders and Mid North, with Clare reporting temperatures of -1.3C at about 7.30am, while Snowtown recorded -1.5C temperatures and Port Pire had lows of -0.3C at around 6.30am.

In the lower Eyre Peninsula, Ceduna reported low temperatures of -1.7C, just after 6.30am, and almost an hour later, Cummins had temperatures of -1.2C.

In Yunta, in the state’s far northeast, temperatures also dropped below zero, after the town recorded -2.9C at 7am on Monday morning.
