South Australia’s luckiest suburbs – and numbers – can be revealed as players get their tickets in Thursday night’s $150m Powerball jackpot.

Newsagents across the state have been run off their feet selling entries in the potentially life-changing draw.

Thousands of entries per minute are expected right up until sales close before the first ball drops on what could be a life-changing win for one player.

Woodcroft and Mawson Lakes are the state’s luckiest suburbs, with two division one wins sold in 2023.

Mawson Central Newsagency owner Liz Dreimann sold a winning $1.25m ticket in May last year.

Her store has been swamped with would-be winners getting their tickets in.

“It has been non-stop all week,” she said.

“It’s a happy atmosphere. People see the queue and don’t care if there’s people lining up, they’re happy to join.”

Ms Dreimann said the often-hilarious banter between customers waiting in line added to the happy vibe, and revealed her best tips for a win.

“People put their own numbers on plus they’re buying extra, and also joining syndicates running in the store,” she said.

“The syndicate gives them a chance to have a share in a bigger ticket they wouldn’t normally play.

“To be honest, the best way to play Powerball is to buy the Power Hit as it guarantees you the Powerball.

“You’ve got to have the Powerball number.”

Two division one entries were sold at Pimpala Newsagency and Gifts last year, but the store has an impressive record of selling seven main prize pools in the 12 Hemant Malhotra has owned.

“On average 150 customers come and buy tickets per day,” he said.

“Last week because of Powerball, a lot of people came.”

The Lott revealed the most common Powerball numbers were 2 and 19, with 14 and 16 the least common.

The most frequently drawn numbers from the main barrel were 17, 7, 11, 2, 3 and 9.

The least frequently from the same barrel are 13, 15, 34, 31, 26, and 1.

The South Australian regions with the most division one entries across all lotto games last year revealed Northern Adelaide to top the list with 10 wins for 2023, and $4m the largest prize.

Southern Adelaide recorded eight wins with $10.62m the largest individual prize, and the Yorke and Mid North region recorded six wins with $2.5m largest individual prize.
