Latest artist impressions show a clearer picture of what the old Royal Adelaide Hospital site will look like in 2028, for the first time revealing how the Aboriginal Art and Cultures centre fits within the Lot Fourteen precinct.
The Lot Fourteen technology precinct on North Terrace is home to 49 established businesses and 59 start-ups – and there is ongoing demand for tenancy space, which will be boosted by the planned 16-storey, 35,000 sqm Entrepreneur and Innovation Centre.
Planned for the heart of the precinct, construction on the flagship $400m innovation centre will begin in early 2022 and is scheduled to open the following year.
It will tower over the refurbished heritage-listed Marnirni-apinthi, McEwin and Bice buildings and sit just near the $200m Aboriginal Art and Cultures Centre, scheduled to open in 2025.
Question marks remain on what is planned for the back corner of Lot Fourteen, where the $60m International Centre for Food, Hospitality and Tourism Studies was once planed to go.
The state government has scrapped those plans and is now pursuing a hi-tech cyber education centre at a similar cost.
The hi-tech school will go next to an unspecified “future development opportunity”.
About 70 per cent of the total 7ha Lot Fourteen precinct will be publicly accessible, with half the site “extensively planted and landscaped”.
