Queensland drink driver allegedly runs into traffic light at Elizabeth South — then tries to walk away
A high-range drink driver has been arrested after he allegedly crashed into a traffic light on a major highway and a teen P-plate has been reported after crashing into parked cars.

An interstate drink driver will face court after he alleged crashed into a traffic light – and then tried to walk away from the scene on Sunday.
Police said the 30-year-old man, from Queensland, was four times over the legal limit when he lost control of his Mitsubishi Triton ute and drove into a traffic light on Philip Highway at Elizabeth South, about 12.30am.
According to police, the driver then tried to leave the scene – but was stopped by a member of the public.
Emergency services were called to Philip Highway near Swan Crescent and police arrested the man who returned a “positive reading of 0.217” during a breath-test analysis.
He has been charged with drink driving and driving without due care.
He lost his licence on the spot for 12 months and his car was towed from the scene.
The man did not apply for bail and is due to face Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident in Glenelg North, a 17-year-old P plate driver ploughed his Holden sedan into a two parked cars on Saturday night.
Police were called after the Woodville West teen crashed into a Toyota Rav 4 and Ford Ranger ute on North Esplanade.
When breath tested, the teen allegedly returned a positive reading of 0.105.
He was reported for drink driving, driving without due care, breach of P licence conditions and driving without P plates.
His car and the Rav 4 had to be towed from the scene.
